DoRiE - data-based implementation for industrial applications

Project duration: May 7th, 2021 thru June 30th, 2023
Funded by the state of BW
Support code: AZ 3-4332.62-IMS/57

Edge AI requires efficient data processing using special hardware accelerators that are available in the project as scalable components, for example, to be particularly energy-efficient or very fast. Every industrial application requires a precisely tailored implementation of the Edge AI solution. The project shows how different implementations can be realized quickly and flexibly from an Edge AI modular system.

Based on the modular system, various functions and components will be developed for industry-related use. Applications here include sensor solutions with integrated local AI for object recognition, Edge AI solutions for robot arms in lightweight and collaborative applications, or on gripping systems with local intelligence. In addition to the use of Edge AI from a safety perspective, an automated test bench for multi-sensor data acquisition for AI training data is also to be realized.

Expressions of interest from well-known small and medium-sized companies from industry for the Innovation Advisory Board have already been received by the research institutions. Interested companies also have the opportunity to join the advisory board during the project period. In addition, networking with application-oriented AI research initiatives throughout Baden-Württemberg, such as the Progress Center “Learning Systems and Cognitive Robotics” or the “Competence Center for AI Engineering CC-KING”, are being set up.
