INOSENS – Research on an innovative optical rotation angle sensor

Miniaturized encoder angle sensors are on the advance. Thus, rotary angle sensors with very high resolution are already commercially available today. The goal is to further increase the resolution of a miniaturized optical encoder by interpolation and to detect possible failures early on with additional sensor information.

The IMS CHIPS is responsible for the development and commissioning of the Opto-ASIC in the INOSENS project. The Opto-ASIC consists of a multitude of integrated photodiodes and mixed-signal circuit elements for the determination of the rotation angle position and the implementation of additional functions.
