The mysterious world of micro and quantum technology

The event takes place at two research facilities on the university campus in Vaihingen.

Find out how quantum physics could change our lives in the future and discover the exciting world of the invisible – microtechnology. We will show you what quantum sensor technology is and what it can be used for.

At the Hahn-Schickard-Institut für Mikroaufbautechnik, we will be demonstrating applications from the fields of microsystems technology, such as optical microsystems and spatial electronics.

Afterwards, we will go together to the Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart. There you will receive a vivid introduction to the world of microelectronics, quantum sensor technology and nanostructuring. The highlight is a window tour in the clean room building with fascinating insights into the technologies and processes for the production of microelectronic circuits and the manufacture of extremely precise optical nanostructures. In addition to the scientific research focus on quantum technologies, innovative power electronics and flexible electronics, products are also manufactured here for industry, SMEs and start-ups, which are required for the production of the latest generation of processors, among other things.

13:30: Meeting point at Hahn-Schickard

Welcome and brief introduction of the institutes

1:50 p.m.: Hahn-Schickard: Applications of micro-optics (injection molding) and presentation of current research projects.

15:00: Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart (joint walk approx. 15 minutes): Introduction to microelectronics, quantum sensing and nanostructuring, window tour in the clean room building.
